چکیده

Purpose: Computer-aided production engineering simulation is a common approach in the search for improvements to real systems. They are used various industrial sectors and basis optimization. Such simulations have found limited use wool industry. This study aims compare performance of different woolshed layouts (curved vs linear). Design/methodology/approach: A discrete event constructed both considered Siemens Technomatix Plant Simulation software. Data from an in-field observational visit working validate model. The compared their base configuration with equipment worker changes evaluate impacts on throughput.Findings: In configurations, curved layout reduces some travel time which increases by 11 fleeces per day over linear layout. addition extra skirting table further throughout 30 day. more handlers does not as large impact indicating that processing limits occur due capacity shearer speed.Practical implications: verifies proposed shed improves gives farmers ability compute long-term economic impact. results also highlight other stages need adjustment system gains.Originality/value: first application woolsheds operations introduce multiple improvement scenarios.

Reduction of production disturbances of a shoemaking industry through a discrete event simulation approach

This study presents a reduction of production disturbances of a shoemaking industry through discrete event simulation approach. The study is conducted at Peacock Shoe factory found in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  This factory faces line balancing problem that becomes production disturbance for its assembly lines. Detail time study is carried out for the selected shoe model using stopwatch. Assembly ...

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)

A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...

Discrete Event Simulation - Production Model In SIMUL8

Computer simulation is a method for studying complex systems that are not solvable with the use of standard analytical techniques. This contribution deals with the application of simulation program SIMUL8 to the analysis of production process in company Alteko, Inc. producing radial fans. The main purpose of the computer experiments is to identify the bottleneck processes and to suggest the man...

Decentralized prognosis of fuzzy discrete-event systems

This paper gives a decentralized approach to the problem of failure prognosis in the framework of fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). A notion of co-predictability is formalized for decentralized prognosis of FDESs, where several local agents with fuzzy observability rather than crisp observability are used in the prognosis task. An FDES is said to be co-predictable if each faulty event can be...
